The BB N105 is a channel strip plug-in modeled after the legendary console in Studio A at Blackbird Studio. Designed by KIT Plug-ins in partnership with John McBride and his team, they crafted a genuinely musical plug-in that evokes emotion and inspires creativity, just as the legendary console does for many great artists.
Every detail restored, every modification rethought
The Neve 8078 console in Studio A at Blackbird is far from ordinary. After John McBride acquired the console for the studio, it underwent a massive restoration to bring it back to its former glory. The console received a series of modifications from some of the best minds in the audio industry, making it not unique but arguably the best example of its namesake ever to exist.
They carefully examined the console’s legendary channel, from factory schematics to studying how top producers and engineers use the console to understand better what made it special. The engineers carefully sampled the channel considering all factors – equalization, saturation, noise, distortion, depth and width, and musicality.
The mission was to create a plug-in that genuinely embodied the sound of recording in Studio A. To do this, they sampled the channel in the console running through master bus B. They captured the samples using John’s favorite A/D converters. The final result: They truly believe we have captured the sound of this Neve 8078 in all its glory!

The KIT, BB N105 plug-in, is distributed in VS3T (Steinberg Virtual Studio Technology 3), AU (macOS Audio Unit), AAX (Avid Audio Extension), and as a standalone application (.exe for Windows and .app for macOS).
